According to the cemetery books this cemetery is listed as Cripple Deer Cemetery (also referred to as Burgess Cemetery). Location: Take hwy 25 north out of Tishomingo for 0.75 miles to hwy 30. Turn right (east) onto hwy 30. Go 2.5 miles to Co Rd 958. Turn left (north) onto Co Rd 958. Go 2.9 miles to the Carter's Branch Baptist Church on the left side of the road. Turn into the church parking lot and drive around the church on the left side. Behind the church is a gravel road (4 wheel drive needed). Go to end of road approx 0.50 of a mile. From the gate walk over a 0.25 of a mile toward tree line at far end of pasture. Cemetery is on ridge on right in edge of woods. I found out who owned the property the cemetery is located on and visited with him. I got permission to climb over the gate and go into the pasture. He has it leased out for pasturing mules. He said that at one time the cemetery had a lot of gravestones in it. His father gave some loggers permission to cut some trees with express instructions not to cut the trees around the cemetery. They didn't comply the first place they started cutting was the cemetery. All of the gravestones were destroyed except for the one for Isaac Mahan and that is because it is a 2' x 6' concrete slab that was placed over his grave. The slab was broken though.
