Funeral services for Frank Gednalske were held in the Lutheran Church of Dell Rapids Monday, March 8. Gednalske died at the home of his daughter Mrs. Dean Feyereisen of Tooele, Utah March 3. The Rev. Martin Haase and the Rev. John Meling officiated at the service. Mrs. John Muller was organist and Ron Peterson soloist. Interment took place in the Dell Rapids Cemetery, Hermanson – Kahler Funeral Home in charge. Pallbearers were Henry Bokker, James Westerman, John Davis, Tilman Berven, John Sittig and Joe Eich.
Frank Gednalske was born to Mr. and Mrs. John Gednalske in Sibley, Ia., on May 13, 1900. He moved with the family to South Dakota when he was a small boy. He was married to Erma Feuerbach in Pipestone, Minn., on March 21, 1932. They farmed near Colman and in 1943 he went to Oakland, Calif., where he worked in the shipyards. He also took eight months of police training under the Oakland Auxiliary Police.
In 1944 he returned to Dell Rapids and served as Chief of Police. He and Mrs. Gednalske also operated the L&F Café on Main St. and across from the City Park for three years, and later the Coffee Shop for two years. Gednalske worked on and off for the city for 21 years, unit his retirement.
He was a member of the IOOF Lodge and Lodge services were held at Hermanson – Kahler Funeral Chapel the night preceding the funeral.
He is survived by his widow, son Rodrick, Coeur D'Alene, Ia.; Kyle, Spanaway, Wash.; daughters Mrs. Don Linderman (Bermae), Elgin, Tex.; Mrs. Feyereisen (Jackie), Tooele, nine grandchildren and a brother Louis, Dell Rapids.
