Sgt Elisha R. Parker
Birth: Jun. 25, 1984
Oneida County
New York, USA
Death: May 4, 2006
Anbar, Iraq

Sgt. Elisha R. Parker of Taberg, New York could have gone to college after graduating in 2002 from Camden High School. Instead, he committed himself to the United States Marine Corps before his senior year and entered basic training a few weeks after graduation. He was a kid who was so gifted, he could have done anything, but he felt it was his duty to serve the country. But while still in school he ran track and cross-country during high school and was a member of the Nordic ski team. During his senior year, he was the school's first recipient of the Cpl. Pat Tillman Award, which is given to a graduating senior who enlisted in the military for full-time active duty. Eli was a committed Christian throughout his life, being active in his church youth ministry. He possessed a thorough understanding of what it meant to be committed and live his life for God. Eli also enjoyed sports, participating in Little League Baseball, Pop Warner Football, boxing, high school soccer, Nordic skiing, cross-country and track. Eli's life, though brief in respect to years, was lived with a fullness that touched many individuals. He is remembered for his unique admiration of Spiderman, his unpredictable humor, athleticism, loyalty and maturity. He is loved and remembered as a son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend. Last, but not least, he will always be remembered as a Marine. For his service and sacrifice, Eli is without question a hero! Parker joined the Marine Corps July 8, 2002. His personal awards include the Combat Action Ribbon, Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and Sea Service Deployment Ribbon. Surviving are his parents, Renny and Donna Parker, a sister, Briana, two brothers, Isaiah and Andrew, maternal grandparents, Richard and Virginia Storms. He also leaves behind "the love of his life," Lauren Allen, and the entire Allen family. He died while conducting combat operations against enemy forces at age 21.
According to LaRobardiere Funeral Home, Eli was disinterred in November of 2010 and relocated to Arlington National Cemetery However, this memorial marker still stands in The Forest Lawn Cemetery.
