Beatrice "Bea" (Tankle) Belopolsky, a resident of Lion's Gate in Voorhees, N.J., and formerly of Burlington and Mount Laurel, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, Oct. 23, 2009, surrounded by her family. She was 88.

Bea, a graduate of Trenton State Teachers College, was the daughter of Samuel and Rose Tankle of Trenton.

She worked as a civilian for the U.S. Navy during World War II, as head of the accounting department at Mercer Field.

She married Herman Belopolsky of Burlington, with whom she was active for many years in the Burlington City and County Democratic Party.

Later Bea began a career as a travel agent, combining it with her interest in travel throughout the world.

Bea generously volunteered for 27 years on the Board of Burlington County Visiting Nurses, for which she served as president.

She lived her life vibrantly and with fierce independence. She enjoyed working on her computer and instant messaging her many grandchildren.

A devoted and very special mother and grandmother, Beatrice is survived by her daughters, Susan Schaffer (Elliott), Jane Campbell (Bob), and Carol Katcher (Bruce); her grandchildren, Jordan and Janet Weinstein, Josh and Lindsay Schaffer, Leah Campbell, Matt and Jessica Katcher; her great-grandsons, Jackson and Ty Weinstein; and her brother, Robert Tankle. Beatrice was preceded in death by her beloved husband, N.J. Superior Court Judge Herman Belopolsky.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit from 12:30 p.m. Sunday at Platt Memorial Chapels, 2001 Berlin Road, Cherry Hill, where funeral services will begin promptly at 1 p.m. Interment will be in Crescent Memorial Park. Shiva will be observed at the home of Carol and Bruce Katcher.

Contributions in Bea's name may be made to the American Cancer Society or Temple B'nai Israel in Burlington, N.J.
