Born Aug. 24, 1904, in Fond du Lac, Wis., she died Friday, Dec. 29, 2006, in Arlington Heights. Eleanor came to Naperville as a school teacher in the late 1920's, after receiving her teaching certificate from Stevens Point Teachers College in Wisconsin. She stopped teaching to raise her family. She earned her Bachelor's degree and returned to teaching elementary grades in the 78/203 School District in the 1940's. She retired in 1971, after 28 years of teaching, mostly as a first grade teacher at Naper School.
Since 1990, she had resided at The Moorings retirement community in Arlington Heights. Eleanor was a longtime member of Fort Payne Chapter DAR and the Mayflower Descendants. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church for over 70 years. She was a world traveler and spent many winters in either Florida or Hawaii with her sister. Earlier, she spent much time in northern Wisconsin, where various family members had cottages.
Much time was spent tracing her genealogy. She did research in Salt Lake City, Utah, and Fort Wayne, Ind., as well as many libraries in Illinois. She was a member of the Dennison Society and contributed to their records.
She is survived by her son, Alvin (Jeanne); daughter, Sally (the late Art) Graf; daughter-in-law, Elaine Beidelman; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son, John Beidelman; and a sister, Marion (the late Carl) Fields. Memorials may be given to Wesley United Methodist Church, 21 East Franklin St., Naperville, IL 60540.
