Lane, 86, of North Manchester, formerly of Freedom, passed away Thursday, November 15, 2012. He was born March 20, 1926 in Mooresville to Frank and Julia (Reynolds) Lane. He attended Freedom High School. He served in the United States Army during World War II. William worked as a carpenter and was a member of Nazarene Church of Spencer.
William is survived by his wife, Freeda (Gentry) Lane; a daughter, Virginia Crowe of North Manchester; a son, Robert Lane of Colorado; four brothers, Charles Lane of Freedom, Sam Lane of Newberry, Donald Lane of Iowa, and Wally Lane of Spencer; three grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Mr. Lane was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Harry Lane.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Sunday, November 18, 2012 at West & Parrish & Pedigo Funeral Home. Rev. David Warren will officiate. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery. Friends may call from 12-2pm on Sunday at the funeral home. Military rites will be performed by the Spencer American Legion and VFW posts.
