Lester Patrick
Birth: Dec. 31, 1883
Death: Jun. 1, 1960

Professional Hockey Pioneer. Born in Drummondville, Canada, together with his brother Frank, they are noted as founders of modern hockey, having established many of the rules used in the NHL to date. While attending McGill University, they played hockey (1904-08), winning the Queen's Cup championship in 1905. They help found the Pacific Coast Hockey Association and he is credited for introducing the red forward line on professional hockey rinks. As a goalie, he played with the Montreal Wanderers, Victoria Cougars, New York Rangers and won six Stanley Cups. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1947. Lester died of a heart attack at age 76 exactly four weeks before his brother Frank died, also of a heart attack. (bio by: John "J-Cat" Griffith)
