____________________________________________________________
In Memory of R.R. Stargel.
The subject of this sketch was borned in Lumpkin County November the 27th, 1850 and departed this life June 19th , 1921, married to Sarah E. Bryan December the 11th, 1874, was the father of nine children seven of whom are still living. Joined the Baptist church December the 25th, 1875 and lived a consistent member up to the time of his death. While he was unassuming and not hasty in making a show; yet he was well versed in the Holy Scripture, and had the material prepared for a book, which if he had lived to have it published would have been both interestion and instrutive. But instead of this it pleased the great Father of All blessings to call him to a higher, and purer and nobler life above; for in the midst of earth's trials and the weakness of human flesh, one could find in him the evidence of having passed from death unto life: and looking forward to the day of dissolution which would release him from the pain, and anxiety and trouble of life, and bring him face to face with the King of righteousness who no doubt bid him welcome to the great feast of good things laid up in store for them that love the Lord.
After all while it brings sorrow and sadness to those who are left behind it is far better to part and be with Christ. I think of the score of relatives and loved ones who has preceeded him to the glory land, and of all the joyous reunion as he entered the golden gates of the celestial city, welcomed by all these redeemed ones and to hear from him who redeemed him "Enter thou into the joys of the Lord."
Rest on dear brother rest.
From life's burdens thou art free,
And in the land where all are blest,
Some glad day our eyes shall see.
When from the streets of shining gold,
We'll sing the songs that ne'er grow old.
And walk amidst the beauties there,
Not distrubed by worldly care.
J.J. Shed
