Obituary of Sarah "Sallie" Miles Stargel
Sept 1891 issue of Dahlonega Nugget
Death of Mrs. C.W. Stargel - Death has visited the household of the Rev. C.W. Stargel and his wife and mother of the family lies under the sod in the cold embrace of death. This will be sad news to her host of friends throughout her neighborhood, and the sorrowing husband and children of the deceased have the sympathy of a large circle of kindred and friends. This sad event occurred at the resdence in Cane Creek District last Sunday night, and it was a sad sight to see the husband and some seven or eight little children around the bed of the dead mother, bowed down in grief and lamentation at the loss of one so near and dear to them.
Sarah "Sallie" J. (Miles) Stargel was the daughter of A.W. Miles. At the time of her death her husband, Rev. Charles Wesley Stargel, was preaching at Cane Creek Baptist Church and she was buried there in the church cemetery. At the time of his death he was at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church and was buried in their Cemetery. Sallie's information came from Ralph Fitts the grandson of Sarah J. (Miles) Stargel. Ralph Fitts lived to be 99 years old.
