Edwin Louis Glasgow, 85, of Houston, DE., formerly of Darlington died Friday, Jan. 16, 2009, in Houston. Born March 19, 1923, in Bessemer, a son of the late Earl S. and Elsie Weaver Glasgow.
He was a veteran of the Army Air Corps, having served in World War II in Burma. He was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church and was a school teacher for more than 35 years in the New Brighton and Darlington schools. He was an original member of Phi Beta Kappa at Wilmington College and was one of the original members of the Darlington Historical Society. He was a Republican committeeman, and was an avid fly fisherman and hunter.
Surviving are his wife of more than 60 years, Wilma Lamkin Glasgow; a son and daughter-in-law, Edwin and Elizabeth Glasgow of Camp Hill, Pa.; three daughters and sons-in-law, Patty Lee and Dennis Sawyers, and Linda and Richard Baumgather, all of Worthington, Ohio, and Eleanor and David Muskovich of Houston; a sister, Eileen Gilmore of Erie; seven grandchildren, Elizabeth and Sam Sawyers, Carina, Tara and Loren Glasgow, and Mallory and Meredith Muskovich; and two great-grandsons.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. tomorrow in the Lutton Chippewa Funeral Home, 117 Blackhawk Road, wwwluttonfuneralhome.com. where prayers will be offered at 9:20 a.m. Friday followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. in St. Rose of Lima Church.
