Birth: 1959

Professional Football Player. He was a durable linebacker for the Pittsburgh Steelers who was voted to the Pro Bowl in 1990. Little played his entire 12-year career in Pittsburgh after he was drafted out of Florida in the seventh round in 1981. He started 125 of the 179 games he played for the Steelers and once played in 89 in a row. His last season in the league was 1992. He used the celebrity that football gave him to help kids. During the latter part of his career with the Steelers, Little began leading a weekly expedition to Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh. The players’ day off was on Tuesday, and every Tuesday, Little would round up some teammates and take them over to spend some time with the patients at Children’s Hospital. After wins, after losses, it didn’t matter. He died while weightlifting when he experienced cardiac fluttering due to heart disease. He dropped 250 pounds of weight, which rolled onto his neck and suffocated him. (bio by: Ron Moody)
