Mrs Lourinda Tallent Lyles, widow of William Lyles, suffered a heart attack Friday evening, November 26 at 9 p.m. at the home of her daughter, Mrs M E Brown in Sparta, and died at 12:15 a.m. Saturday. Mrs Lyles was born in Hamilton county April 8, 1864; she died at the age of 79.
She married William Lyles May 14, 1882 and they had 10 children; 3 preceded her in death: Mrs Kate Douglas, Mrs Bessie Frasier and Dollie Lyles. Mrs Lyles was a member of the Church of Christ.
Besides the 2 daughters who make their home here, the entire Lyles family lived here from about 1915 to 1920.
Funeral services were conducted at the home of Mr and Mrs Mal E Brown on Monday, November 29 at 2 p.m. with burial at Highland cemetery.
Surviving are 7 children: Mrs M E Brown, Jeff and Dewey Lyles, Sparta; Mrs W E Grisson and Mrs Otto Dunbar, Crossville; Bob Lyles, Graham, Texas; Jesse Lyles, Merchant Marines; 32 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren.
