From The Cat Corner in Virginia:
Gabby came to live at Cat Corner in August 2006. She had difficulty adjusting to all the other cats and didn't understand why she had lost her home. We tried everything to help Gabby adjust and somewhere along the way we discovered that Gabby loved boxes. We had tried all type of beds but Gabby rejected them all. Then we put a cardboard box in her condo and she moved right in. After that Gabby settled down to life at Cat Corner. She got lots of attention from visitors because she was a polydactyl and had extra toes but she was an older kitty and she watched as many others were adopted. She waited patiently and seemed happy in her box. Then one day an elderly lady came to visit and fell in love with Gabby. Gabby liked her too and they became a family. But sadly Gabby was only able to stay in her new home for a year. Her Mom fell and had to move to a nursing home and Gabby returned to her box at Cat Corner. We thought she might be with us for the rest of her life but Gabby was a lucky kitty and a new family came into her life. They adopted Gabby and took her home - despite the fact that Gabby bit her second new Mom when they first met. Gabby loved her new home. She had lots of attention, lots of windows with special perches to sit on, and yes her very own cardboard box. Her new family discovered that she liked plastic bags in her boxes and so she settled in with things just the way she liked them. Gabby even got to be best friends with her new younger kitty brother. She loved to cuddle, take naps and just be with her family. Gabby had four wonderful years in a loving home. Sadly she became very ill and crossed the Rainbow Bridge on 5 Jan 2012 with her family by her side. Gabby was very special to many people and especially to her forever family. She will be greatly missed.
