Henry J. Feigenheimer
PLEASANT VALLEY - Henry J. Feigenheimer, 86, of Pleasant Valley, New York, passed away on Friday September 14, 2007. Henry was born in Germany to Herman Feigenheimer and Bella Rothschild Feigenheimer on April 5, 1921. He was educated in Germany until the Nazi anti-Semitic laws prevented him from continuing his schooling. He immigrated alone, to the United States at age 17. He worked, became a Naturalized Citizen and joined the US Army. Before being sent overseas, he met and married Jane Tompkins. His dear wife of 64 years survives at home. Henry served in the Army in the 79th Division of the 315th Batallion in Europe. He was a participant in the Invasion of Normandy at Omaha Beach. He was wounded and returned to the battlefields for the duration of the war. Henry was awarded two Purple Hearts and Honorably Discharged. Henry was employed by IBM for more than 25 years; in Poughkeepsie, Boulder, Colorado, San Jose, California and Tucson, Arizona. His duties took him also to Japan, France, Spain and Germany. He was a voracious reader, fisherman, fluent in several languages and dabbled in photography and silversmithing jewelry. He and his wife traveled extensively. Henry was a former member of the Pleasant Valley Volunteer Fire Department, Kiwanis, S.C.O.R.E. and the American Legion. In addition to his wife, Henry is survived by his loving daughters and their husbands, Susan Feigenheimer(Mario Pedroza),Mountlake Terrace, Washington, JoAnn Feigenheimer(Tom Sipos), Pleasant Valley, New York. He was the proud grandfather of Sarah Richards, Joseph Loughlin, Martin Loughlin(Theresa), Thomas Loughlin, Jessica Sipos (Tom Kaczorowski) and sweet Great-grandpa to Ava Richards. He is survived by six nephews and their families. Henry was also a "surrogate" Grandpa to exchange students Cloe, Marta & Yordanka. Henry was predeceased by his only sibling, Max T. Feigenheimer. A memorial service will be held in the Spring of 2008. Donation in Henry's memory may be made to the Pleasant Valley Volunteer Rescue Squad, Main Street, Pleasant Valley, New York 12569.
