Darrell Dean Buttram, son of Anson and Opal H. Lowry Buttram, was born August 26, 1943, near Grovespring, Missouri. He departed this life Friday, January 3, 2003, in Christian Healthcare South, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of fifty-nine years, four months, and seven days.
On May 27, 1966, he was united in marriage to Marietta Jones, and to this union one daughter and one son were born.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and an infant daughter, Tamera Darlene Buttram.
Darrell is survived by his wife of thirty-six years, Marietta, of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey and Sheryl Buttram, of Willard, Missouri; three grandchildren, Chance, Spencer, and Tristen Buttram; two brothers, Gene Buttram, and Darris Buttram, both of Lebanon, Missouri; two half-brothers, Otis Buttram, of Springfield, Missouri, and Cecil Wayne Buttram, of Lompoc, California; two sisters, Lella Hufft, and Faye Ruble, both of Lebanon, Missouri; a half-sister, Wilma Duncan, of Independence, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was born and raised in the Grovespring community, and then moved with his family to Lebanon in 1953. He graduated from Lebanon High School in the Class of 1964. He then served in the United States Army National Guard for the next several years. Early in his adult years, he served as an officer for the Lebanon Police Department for a short time. He worked for Hiland Dairy in Lebanon for ten years, and then was employed as a route salesman for Brown Beverage Company for eighteen years. In 1992, he decided to go into cattle farming and enjoyed working with his cattle for the last several years.
In his spare time he liked quail hunting and bowling, and enjoyed watching all types of sports. His family was very important to him and he especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Darrell was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Services were held January 6, 2003 at 2:00p.m. in the Holman-Howe Chapel. Burial followed in the McBride Cemetery. Visitation was held from 7-8:30 Sunday, January 5, 2003 at the Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Lebanon, Missouri.
