Clarence Willard Bryson was reported missing January 13, 1943, going down on the cruiser Juneau, in the South Pacific. Bryson, the youngest son of Samuel G. and Marie (Foster) Bryson of Modesto, a pioneer farmer of the Island district, was born, educated and lived in the Island region until his enlistment in the Navy in November, 1940. Three of his brothers were in the United States Army. They are Paul, Samuel F. and Burton Bryson.
