Larry Wayne Hodgkinson, 66, died June 1, 2010, in Los Angeles, California from complications of diabetes.
A Celebration of Life service was held June 12th at the Wee Kirk O' the Heather Chapel at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, California.
Larry was born July 13, 1943 At Denison, Texas. His family moved to Stamford in 1951 where Larry attended school graduating from Stamford High School in 1961. He played football for the Bulldogs, earning All District honors and was part of the 1960 AA State Championship football team. Larry had fond memories and made lasting friendships from his years in Stamford.
Larry received his Bachelor of Science degree from Sul Ross State University at Alpine, Texas in 1966 and taught school for a few years before going into the insurance business.l He worked for Southwestern Life in the Dallas area; American Security Life in San Antonio; Security Benefit in Phoenix, AZ; and Beneficial Standard in Los Angeles where he was Vice President and Chief Underwriter. In 1986 while working in San Antonio, he received his Master of Business Administration degree from Our Lady of the Lakes University. Larry's work took him to many states, but it was in California that he met his wife, Maryam Tejaratchi. They married in June 1982, and had resided for most of their nearly 28 years together in California, most recently in Sunland.
Larry always embraced life. He had an infectious laugh; loved listening and dancing to a George Strait or Frank Sinatra tune; and relished a good meal - especially chicken fried steak, Texas style.
Larry was preceded in death by his mother, Vinnie Hodgkinson, and both grandparents.
Survivors: Wife, Maryam of Sunland, CA; father, Jesse Hodgkinson, of Carrollton, TX; sister, Patsy Morgan and husband Roger of Granbury, TX; nephews, David Morgan of Las Vegas, NV and Greg Morgan of Nashville, TN; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Jamie and Patrick Emsellem of Los Angeles, CA; and many extended family members and friends.
