EVALINA "ABEL" DITTMER DENKER, was born 25 April 1827 in Schleswig Holstein Province, Germany. She died 12 March 1903 in Davenport, Iowa and was buried in the Walcott Cemetery by her husband.
As with husband, Hans Asmus, volunteers had not been able to locate the gravestone for the two. They were not where intitial records showed their plats. It was not until 2013 that a great "Find-a-Grave" volunteer was able to find the eroded marker and make the posting you see here. The family is appreciative. The 1900 census showed she could read and write English, which was something many of her German Immigrant peers could not do. At that time, her youngest daughter, Emma, age 28 was living at home. She had 7 living children.
