Caitlin Suzanne Fullerton, 14, died on Thursday, Nov. 1, along with her beloved brother Mick in an auto accident near their home in the Ross Barnett Reservoir area of Rankin County.
Caitlin was a freshman at Northwest Rankin High School. A memorial service for Caitlin and Mick will be held at Pine Lake Baptist Church at 2 p.m. Saturday.
"They had so much to look forward to," father Jay Fullerton, says. "I'm proud to say they were good kids."
Caitlin's extraordinary personality brought her many close friendships and heart-warming popularity at school and in the community. She was beautiful and caring and will be deeply missed by so many people who will cherish forever their memories of her.
Much of her family life focused over the years on her brothers' athletic endeavors: Will's swimming and Mick's soccer.
When asked how he and Elaine could spend so much time and money traveling the country -- and even Europe -- watching Mick's team play, Jay always replies: "Two hours of playing soccer and 22 hours of sitting around a picnic table eating and laughing. It's family time."
Caitlin was in the first grade when her family began making weekend tournament treks around the South.
"She had such a bubbly personality," one soccer parent says, "that when she was younger we could hardly see the games because Caitlin was cart-wheeling up and down the sideline."
Caitlin loved her friends deeply and would do anything for them. The focus of her life was family. She adored her parents, her big brothers and their friends.
"Caitlin always said she didn't have two big brothers, but 20 big brothers," her father says.
In addition to her parents, Caitlin is survived by her brother Will, a student at Mississippi State; her grandparents, William and Freddie Fullerton of Lake Charles, La., and Marian Byrne of Wexford, Pa.; and her great-grandmother, Marilyn Kelly of Lake Charles.
