Allen Carter Grant, Jr was drafted 21st of October 1864 and inducted to the Army at Camp Randall, Madison, Wisconsin. He served in Company 1 of the 6th Wisconsin Infantry. After months of poor protection from cold weather and little food, he fell ill and was sent to the Campbell Hospital in Washington, D.C.
He died April 6, 1865 at the age of 32 leaving his wife and two young children. He was buried in Arlington National Cemetery, however, when he was buried there, it didn't have this name yet.
