"Daily Capital News" Jefferson City, Cole County, Missouri Tuesday, March 18, 1969 page #5, column #2 "George Burks Services Today" "George Edward Burks, 71, 313 McKinley St., died Saturday at Memorial Hospital. Mr. Burks was born in Miller Couny Aug. 16, 1897, the son of Jack and Laura Belle Pierce Burks. He was married on Feb. 19, 1916, to Miss Dora E. Warden, who died May 11, 1953. He was married to Margaret Taube Hoelscher in September, 1954. She survives. Mr. Burks was a retired restaurant operator. Survivors include: Five daughters: Mrs Pearl Duemmet, Mrs. Robert Major, Mrs. Wayne Quinn, and Mrs. Richard Thomasson, all of Jefferson City, and Mrs. Melvin Saucier, Canton. Other survivors include: Two sons, Bob Burks and Roger Burks, Jefferson City; two stepsons, Joe Hoelscher and Ed Hoelscher, Jefferson City; three sisters, Mrs. Luther Mackney, Richland, Mrs. C. L. Jennings, Troy, and Mrs. Myrtle hensel, Lamar; one brother, William Burks, Kewanee, Ill.; 33 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. today in the Tanner Funeral Home Chapel. Father Patrick Hoffman will officiate. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery." Submitted by suelay@@postoffice.swbell.net
