U.S. Army, 82nd Airborne Division, 325th Glider Infantry Regiment, 1 HQ.
Wounded in action in Normandy and died of his wounds.

Funeral services and full military rites were held Wednesday for Private Ora S. Beakler Jr, 24, of 55 Lincoln Avenue, who was Killed in Action in Normandy, France, in 1944.

The body arrived at Richards Memorial Home at 4:30 pm Monday and brief services were held there at 1:30 Wednesday.

Military rites were conducted by the Veterans of Foreign Wars at 2 pm on Soldiers Mound, Ferncliff Cemetery, where burial was to be made.

The son of Mr. and Mrs. Ora Beakler Sr, he was born in Greene County, Ohio, on June 30, 1919.

Prior to his induction into the Army December 1, 1942, he was employed at the Bauer Brothers Company, Springfield.

In April 1943, Private Beakler was sent overseas and was Killed in Action during the Normandy Beachhead Operations, June 14, 1944.

Besides his widow, Elizabeth Beakler, he was survived by his parents; a brother, William of Fairfield, and two sisters, Mrs. Mary Van Gant of Dayton, and Mrs. Lola Keith of Fairfield.
