Clarence Edward Mathias
Birth: Dec. 12, 1876
Death: Dec. 9, 1935

Boxer Rebellion Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient. Born in Royalton, Pennsylvania, he served as a Private, in the U.S. Marine Corps. During the advance on Tientsin, China, July 13, 1900, Private Mathias distinguished himself in a major engagement holding off enemy troops until reinforced. For meritorious conduct, he was awarded the Medal of Honor on July 19, 1901 and later achieved the rank of Sergeant Major. (bio by: John "J-Cat" Griffith)
