Birth: Feb. 20, 1719
Woburn
Middlesex County
Massachusetts, USA
Death: Mar. 18, 1795
Bucksport
Hancock County
Maine, USA

Founder of Bucksport Maine. Revolutionary War Hero. Settled in the area to become Bucksport in July 1762. Original site was destoyed by the British in 1779. He returned and rebuilt it. Married Lydia Morse. Many local legends (false) persist that during the colonial witch trials he tried and executed a local woman for witchcraft and because of her curse a woman's footprint appeared on his tombstone. In truth, the withcraft trials ended in 1692 and Buck was born in 1719, and lived and died well over 100 years after 1692! Buck's heirs did replace the original stone but that was because they wished it replaced with a more impressive one, as befitted his postion.
