Mearl L. Blumenstein was born North of Wellman, Iowa, the son of Edward W. and Minnie A. (Perrin)Blumenstein. Mearl died Monday at Franciscan Medical Center, Rock island at age 72. He worked 12 years as a switchman on the Davenport Rock Island Lines. He also farmed in the Taylor Ridge, Ill, area. Mr. Blumenstein married Helen Sering in 1940 .The were the parents of 1 son. He married Donna Newton in 1953 in Rock Island. She died in 1969. He married Betty Dunn in 1974 in Chicago. He was an Army veteran of World Warr II. He was a member and past governor Rock Island Moose Lodge 190, Lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1571, Aledo, Ill; American Legion Post 1166, Reynolds,IL.; Western Illinois Legion of the Moose 112; Scottish Rite, Moline; Mohammed Temple, Peoria Ill; and Masonic Lodge 658, Rock Island.
