Staff Sgt. Nicholas P. Bellard, 26, of El Paso, Texas died June 13 in Wasit province, Iraq, of wounds suffered when enemy forces attacked their unit with an improvised explosive device. They were assigned to the6th Squadron, 9th Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas. SSG Bellard is survived by his beloved daughter, Eva; wife, Veronica; brothers, Anthony, Andrew, and Matthew; parents, Anthony Bellard Sr. and Jamie Santos; grandparents, Peggy and Linus Bellard; aunt, Susan Ohlenforst; uncles, Greg and Chris Bellard; mother- in law, Francis Soto; sisters-in-law, Sonia, Alicia, and Crystal, along with countless other family and friends who were blessed to know him.
