Worldon "Sonny" Franks, Jr.
SHREVEPORT, LA - Funeral services for Worldon "Sonny" Franks, Jr. will be held Wednesday, August 1st at 11:30 a.m. at Rose-Neath' Funeral Home, Southside Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. Clarence Chism. Interment will follow in Northwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Keithville, LA. "Military Rites will be conducted by the 12th District Dept. of LA, Veterans of Foreign Wars-HONOR GUARD. The family will receive friends at Rose-Neath on Tuesday, July 31, 2007 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
Mr. Franks was born September 30, 1942 in Crowville, LA. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1965. During his outstanding military career he served three tours in Vietnam and received numerous military awards including a Silver Star for gallantry in combat, a Purple Heart for wounds sustained in battle, and a Bronze Star for bravery in combat. In addition to these outstanding accomplishments, Mr. Franks received several other awards throughout his military career, which served to demonstrate his loyalty and dedication to the United States Army and reflect great credit upon himself and the military service.
Mr. Franks was preceded in death by his parents, Worldon and Dollie Franks, his brother Rev. Leon Franks, and sister Pearlie Mae Lilly. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Lucy Franks; Children, Michelle (Franks) Trejo, Rhonda (Brakefield) Loga, Eric Brakefield, all of Shreveport, LA and John Brakefield of Baton Rouge, LA; grandchildren, Natalie Marie Trejo, Fernando Trejo, Heather Brakefield, Chelsie Pantalion, Traci Sepulvado, Rachel McCain and Colette Fitzgerald. He is also survived by his two sisters, Mary Lilly and Dessie Lee Tillman, three great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and friends and two special nephews, Jerry Franks and Robert Lilly.
Serving as pallbearers will be John Brakefield, Eric Brakefield, Jose Trejo, AJ Loga, Jeffery Sepulvado, and Jerry Franks. Honorary pallbearers will be Casey Franks and Robert Lilly.
Mr. Franks enjoyed hunting, fishing, barbecuing, and spending time with friends and family. He had a wonderful sense of humor and loved laughter. He was greatly loved and will be greatly missed.
