Funeral services for Mr. LeRoy Shelton Adams, 87, will be held at Rose - Neath's Southside Chapel, Tuesday, April 11, 2006, at 11:30 a.m. Reverend Crawford Williams and Brother Gary Boswell will officiate. Internment will follow in Centuries Memorial Park, where the 12th District V.F.W. Honor Guard will conduct the graveside service. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Monday, April 10, 2006.
Mr. LeRoy Shelton Adams, went to his Heavenly home on April 8, 2006,from complications following a stroke. He was a longtime resident of Shreveport, Louisiana and has lived in Greenwood, Louisiana for the past 5 years.
Mr. Adams was born to Henry Jackson and Lula Frances Crain Adams on May 12, 1918, in Dodson, Louisiana. He proudly served in World War II in the Army Air Corps in the Pacific Islands. He met his wife, Sybil, while stationed in Savannah, Georgia and they were married on November 23, 1945. He spent his working years as a master carpenter who was admired as an artist with wood. He enthusiastically put lots of love into being a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great - grandfather. He was a man of few words, but when he spoke it was with great wisdom and kindness. Mr. Adams loved his Lord and was a living example of what it is to be a Christian. He was a longtime member of Ingleside Baptist Church and more recently a member of Westview Christian Church.
Mr. Adams is survived by his wife of 60 years, Sybil Tebeau Adams; one sister, Marcelle Adams Powell and husband, Ralph of Salado, Texas; six children and their spouses, Robert Adams and wife, Mary, Richard Adams and wife, Linda, Anne Foster and husband, Ken, Lisa Cooper and husband, Randy, Denise Mayfield and husband, Dean, Mark Adams and wife, Christi; ten grandchildren, Michael Adams, David Adams, Lori Whisenhunt, Amy Briggs, Troy Ramey, Erica Ramey, Ryan Ramey, Logan Sanders, Zachary Mayfield, Shelbi Adams; great - grandchildren, Judd Whisenhunt, Justin Briggs, and Tyler Briggs.
Pallbearers will be Michael Adams, David Adams, Troy Ramey, Ryan Ramey, Melvyne Primos, and Vernon Burgess.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the fine doctors and nurses at Willis Knighton South and North. Their kindness and heart felt compassion is truly appreciated.
