Richard Aubin Bennett

SHREVEPORT, LA - A memorial service celebrating the life of Richard Aubin Bennett, 72, will be held at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, April 10, 2010, in the sanctuary of First United Methodist Church of Shreveport. Officiating will be Dr. Pat Day. The family will receive friends from 12 noon until 1:00 p.m. Saturday in Couch Parlor at the church prior to the service.

Dick was born September 26, 1937 in Baton Rouge, LA and passed away Wednesday, April 7, 2010, at his residence. A member of First United Methodist Church of Shreveport, and of the CoWed Sunday School Class.

Dick was a graduate of Louisiana Tech University and served as Grand Master of Kappa Sigma Fraternity. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Air Force. Dick enjoyed flying and was a great "story teller" to his family and friends about his flying experiences. His experience as a Field Safety Director for a construction company added to his story telling.

His parents, James and Gussie Gunby Bennett, preceded Richard in death.

Beautiful memories will be shared by his wife, Peggy O'Neal Bennett of Shreveport, LA; sons, Rick Bennett, Jr. and wife, Susan of The Woodlands, TX and Gregg Bennett and wife, Sarah of Austin, TX; daughter, Dina Lynn Bennett of Los Angeles, CA; grandchildren, Megan, Gregg, Jonah and Logan Bennett; brother, Robert Wayne Bennett and wife, Linda of Little Rock AR; mother-in-law, Fay D. O'Neal of Alexandria, LA; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family is grateful to the staff of Hospice of Shreveport-Bossier for the professional and compassionate care shown to Dick.

The family suggests memorials may be made to the Howard Elder Scholarship Fund through First United Methodist Church of Shreveport, 500 Common Street, Shreveport, LA 71101 or to the charity of the donor's choice. Rose-Neath Funeral Home
