Birth: Dec. 2, 1838
New York
New York County (Manhattan)
New York, USA
Death: Dec. 13, 1897

Mrs. D. W. Culver, who died on Monday, December 13, 1897, was born in New York City, December 21, 1838, being next to the youngest of a family of nine children. Mrs. Culver stayed at the parental home until about twenty years of age. She then came west for her health. After spending some time with a sister in Illinois, she came to Helena Valley, where a sister resided. Here she became acquainted with and was united in marriage with D.W. Culver on September 3, 1861. Six children blessed this union thus making home brighter by their childish prattle.About fifteen years ago Mrs. Culver with her family, came to Wyoming, where she has since lived. In her early years she united with the Methodist church, and always felt at home there, but poor health with the care of a large family prevented Mrs. Culver from taking part in pleasures outside of the home circle.About two years ago her son's wife died, leaving four small children…the youngest a babe. These were taken into the grandmother's home, and most tenderly watched over and cared for by her. This addition to the family was borne with the patient fortitude that characterized Mrs. Culver.Though a great sufferer from heart trouble and other diseases connected with it, she was always cheerful, never complaining, but ever inclined to look on the bright side. Mrs. Culver was well know here, and loved and respected by those who knew her, and her presence will be sadly missed by her many friends. The funeral services were held at the church. Rev. J.E. Smith spoke from the text: Jesus answered and said unto him. What I do thou knowest not now; but thou shalt know hereafter..John 13:7.The remains were followed to the cemetery by a large concourse of mourning relatives and friends.
