Birth: Mar. 16, 1943
Death: Feb. 16, 2008

In the early morning hours of February 16, 2008, our beloved Janet went to sleep, and didn't wake up. Her lengthy but courageous fight with cancer and pain has ended.
Janet (Humphrey) DelGrego was the daughter of Raymond and Opal (Cardell) Humphrey, and the widow of Ralph DelGrego. She was born in Douglas, Arizona, on March 16, 1943, and was raised in Tucson. She graduated from Sunnyside High School, and married to Ralph DelGrego on June 3, 1970. Ralph passed away in 1994.
She is survived by two brothers, Rance (wife Rene) of Green Valley and Alton (wife Pam)Humphrey of Seward, Alaska. She leaves behind Aunts, Mary (Cardell) Dungan, Mattie (Cardell) Foster, Pauline (Cardell) Bennett, Lola (Cardell) McGovern, and her Uncles, Dock Cardell and Bobby Cardell, neice Tara, nephews Rex Allen, Scotty and Chance, as well as many other family members too numerous to name. She was the grandaughter of William Thomas and Ella (Peacock) Cardell. I believe that Ralph had a child by a previous marriage, but I don't know the names. Ralph and Janet had no children of their own.
She has been a member of the Jehovah Witness for many years, as is her brother Rance. Janet was baptized on September 2, 1956. Janet graduated the 42nd Class of Gilead on September 11, 1966.
She and her husband, Ralph, traveled to several countries, including Spain. Since Ralph's death, and when health permitted, she traveled to Alaska, California, Virginia, and other places to see her many relatives. She returned to Arizona from California where she was residing when her mother's health declined, and remained after Opal's death to make her home here in Tucson again.
Janet's sunny personality, even as she became ill, was always a joy to those who came in contact with her. She has been legally blind for many years, and learned braile as a young woman. Her blindness didn't limit her to a great extent, since she could still see light and dark, and was still able to do most everything for herself. She listened to audio tapes of the sermons that the Witnesses produced, and for most of the time was able to use a reader to read her scriptures.
She went to school and learned a new trade, working from her home giving therapudic masages, until her health declined. The last five months her friend of many years, Carolyn, and her Aunt Lola at times, stayed with her, and helped her through trying times. The last four years have been hard ones, battling several different types of cancer, but her faith and courage carried her through the operations, and the trials of her illness. I don't recall ever hearing her complain about anything....she remained optimistic throughout all those hard times.
Her soft spoken, sunny disposition and her sweet sense of humor will be greatly missed, but our wonderful memories of Janet will remain with us for always.
Janet will be cremated, with a memorial service being conducted on Saturday February 23rd, 11:30 AM at the Rincon Kingdom Hall, 5643 E. Lee Street, where she was a member. Brother David Binkley will be officiating.

Ashes given to family and interred in the McGovern plot along with her Aunts Lola McGovern, Mary Dungan and her mother, Opal Humphrey.
