She was the loving wife of William Thomas Cardell, mother to:
Charles, (deceased) Dock, (deceased) Opal (deceased) , John, (deceased) Mildred,(deceased) Mary, (deceased) Lola, (deceased) PAULINE (DECEASED 2016) MATTIE FOSTER, DECEASED 2018, Billy,(deceased) Muriel (Buck) (deceased) Ursie (deceased) and a son BOBBY (DECEASED IN 2020).
She could play the mandolin, make the best tea cakes, pinto beans, taters and beef stew. Wonderful cook when she had the ingredients!
She was the daughter of John William (Bill) and Maggie Roden Wilson Peacock, from Stonewall, County, Texas, where her father, Bill was one of the founders of the town of Peacock, Stonewall Co., Texas. Married in 1910 to Will, and traveled all over following the work, finally settling in Lordsburg around 1935. Her husband, Will is buried at Evergreen Cemetery at Tucson, Az. He died in 1950.

SHE AND WILL WERE SEPERATED WHEN HE DIED IN 1950, BUT WHEN ELLA FOUND OUT ABOUT HIS DEATH, SHE HAD JUST WASHED AND CURLED HER HAIR. SHE SCURRIED AROUND, JUMPED ON A BUS, AND BARELY MADE IT IN TIME TO RIDE WITH FAMILY TO HIS FUNERAL. SHE MUST HAVE STILL LOVED HIM EVEN THO THEY HAD BEEN SEPERATED FOR YEARS.
(AS TOLD TO ME BY MARY CARDELL DUNGAN AND LOLA CARDELL WRIGHT MCGOVERN, HER DAUGHTERS.)
After her son Muriel died in December 1944, WWII she never celebrated Christmas again. Mattie (her daughter) once told me when they received the telegram she was following behind the guy that was delivering it. They knew what it was. It broke the whole families hearts when he passed.
I think that it would have pleased Ella to know that three daughters and two granddaughters are all buried together in the Oracle Cemetery, and that her son John rests near them.

Son, Muriel Eugene "Buck" Cardell died Dec 11, 1944 in WWII and is buried at Henri-Chapelle American Cemetery in Belgium. Buck

Lola, Opal, Mary, Janet and Lola's daughter, Dolly all interred in the McGovern Plot in Oracle, Arizona.
IT IS NOT KNOWN WHERE HER SISTER, MINNIE GERTRUDE PEACOCK DANFORTH GORDON IS BURIED.
DAUGHTER, MATTIE ALINE CARDELL FOSTER WHO IS DECEASED (2018) HAS BEEN CREMATED, ASHES GIVEN TO FAMILY MEMBERS.
HER LAST SON TO DIE, SUDDENLY, AT HOME, WAS ROBERT ALLEN CARDELL, FORMER MARINE. WAS TO BE CREMATED AND NO SERVICES, NO OBIT. OCT. 2020. ROBERT SERVED IN VIET NAM, WAS A GUARD FOR EISENHOWER, AND HAD A CHEST FULL OF MEDALS...PURPLE HEART WHEN WOUNDEDD IN VIET NAM. AVID HIKER, AND A SEEKER OF CRESTED SAGUAROS. LOVED HIS "BUGGIES" AND LATER HIS JEEP. HE HAD A WONDERFUL SENSE OF HUMOR, AND LOVED A GOOD PRACTICAL JOKE. HE CARVED BEAUTIFUL WALKING STICKS TO GIVE AWAY. HE LOVED TO HUNT DEER AND ELK.... HE HAD MANY FRIENDS OF MANY YEARS, SOME FROM HIS HIKING CLUB. HE HAD MARRIED CATHERINE BLOCKER, HAD ONE SON, AND "KITTY" DIED IN DEC. OF 1986. HE NEVER REMARRIED, AND LIVED IN CATALINA, AZ.

What we have once enjoyed, we can never lose...
All that we love deeply becomes a part of us.
