Robert "Bob" Carl Craft, 81, of Pickaway passed away Sunday evening, Feb. 3, 2008, at the Princeton Community Hospital in Princeton. He was born on Oct. 16, 1926, to the union of Rev. David Carl Craft and Hazel Riggleman in Pendleton County, W.Va. Bob moved with his parents and siblings to the Sinks Grove, W.Va., community when he was a small child. He attended elementary school at Sinks Grove and graduated in 1944 from Union High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during World War II. On Dec. 15, 1950, he married Charlotte Compton in Covington, Va. Bob and Charlotte initially lived in Marlinton, W.Va., where he was employed as a Correctional Officer at Mill Point, W.Va., by the Federal Bureau of Prisons. He was transferred when the Camp was closed to the Federal Penitentiary in Atlanta, Ga.; from Atlanta he was transferred to Petersburg, Va., and ultimately to the Federal Correctional Institution at Alderson, W.Va., where he retired on July 8, 1978. Bob then became involved in real estate with Layton Realty as a salesman and later a Broker. After several years at this vocation he retired to his home in Pickaway enjoying family, fishing and searching for ginseng. He was an avid gardener and loved the outdoors, a member of NARFE Almost Heaven Chapter of Federal Retirees, the Monroe County Animal League and was a charter member of the Union Memorial Baptist Church in Union. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. David Carl and Hazel Riggleman Craft, and his younger brother, Don Craft. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2008, at the Groves Funeral Home Chapel in Union with the Rev. Mark Shafer and Rev. Bob Ratliff officiating. Burial will follow in the Green Hill Cemetery at Union.

Bob was an honorable man living by the Golden Rule, known for his honesty, his kindness and cherished his family, being especially proud of his children and grandchildren. He will be forever missed by his family, friends and loved ones. Groves Funeral Home in Union is in charge of arrangements.
