Alfred served as a Technician Fourth Grade, 851st Engineer Battalion (Aviation), U.S. Army during World War II.

He resided in Erie County, New York prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on November 30, 1942 in Buffalo, New York. He was noted as being employed as a Railroad switchmen and also as Separated, with dependents. His last name is shown as "Mac Donald" instead of "MacDonald" in the Army records.

Alfred died in the "Line Of Duty" of a non-battle related incident in France during the war.

He was originally interred in France and was later repatriated here on August 10, 1949.
