Edward served as a Corporal in the 32nd Photographic Squadron, 5th Reconnaissance Group, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He enlisted in the Army on December 22, 1942 in Rochester, New York. He was noted as being Single, without dependents.

He was declared "Missing In Action" on his 23rd birthday when the transport ship he was on was sunk during the war. He was awarded a Purple Heart.
