Husband of Edith (nee Verge) Laviolette and father of Sandra Laviolette.
Captain Charles E. Laviolette and eight other soldiers were killed when their helicopter was shot down over Viet Cong territory near Lao Bao, Vietnam. The were part of the troops assigned to a peacekeeping mission, associated with the International Commission of Control and Supervision (ICCS), tasked with monitoring the ceasefire in South Vietnam under the Paris Peace Accords.
