Paul Nix was the head coach of Troy State University from 1954 to 1960 and Auburn University from 1963 to 1984, leading the Tigers to the College World Series in 1967 and 1976. He had previously hit over .300 three straight years in the Appalachian League and was 6-6 on the mound in four minor league seasons.
Auburn's longest tenured head baseball coach, Paul Nix, who coached the program for 22 years from 1963-84, passed away Monday at the age of 76. Nix had an overall record of 515-376 and guided the program to a pair of NCAA College World Series berths, three Southeastern Conference championships, one SEC Tournament title and six SEC Divisional titles. He was named the SEC Coach of the Year five times.
