Obituary--Louise Jeanette (Lou Jean) Mc Kay Blood, passed away, December 16, 2002 in Salt Lake.
She was born in Ogden, Utah on October 13, 1906, the daughter of Emma Ray Riggs and President David O. Mc Kay. She married Dr. Russell Henry Blood, December 28, 1927 in the Salt Lake Temple. He died January 7, 1986.
Lou Jean was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various capacities throughout her life. While her father was President of the European Mission, she completed her high school at the Queen Mary School for Girls, in Liverpool, England. The following year she received her diploma from the Alliance Francaise, in Paris, France. While in Paris she continued her piano studies at the Paris Conservatory of Music. She was an honor student at the University of Utah, affiliated with the Chi Omega Sorority and was a member of the Classics Club, DUP, and the Knife & Fork Club.
Lou Jean adored her family, always placing their welfare ahead of her own. She was greatly loved by all who knew her and who bear her passing with deep sorrow but celebrate her life with incredible joy. Her unwavering faith, endearing and gracious charm, and thoughtfulness are priceless gifts she left with her family and with everyone she met. Mom-Mom Jean we love you, we will miss you terribly, and you will never be forgotten.
She is survived by her son Russell M. (Judy) Blood and grandson David of Charlotte, North Carolina; step-grandson Mark (Sheryl) Lanasa, Johnstown, Ohio; step-granddaughter, Angie (Wayne) Jung of Charlotte, North Carolina; two brothers, Edward R. (Lottie) Mc Kay; Robert R. (Frances Ellen) Mc Kay and sister Emma Rae (Conway) Ashton all of Salt Lake, and many beloved nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers, Royal R. Mc Kay, David L. (Mildred) Mc Kay and Llewellyn R. (Alice) Mc Kay; brothers-in-law Alan B. Blood and Paul M. Mazuran and sisters-in-law Hazel Blood Ellison, Kay Hardy Blood, and Evelyn Blood Sims Mazuran.
Funeral services will be 12:00 Noon on Friday, December 27, 2002 at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple. Friends may call Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Friday one hour prior to services at the mortuary. Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to a favorite charity.
