FAIRMOUNT - Walter "Bud" C Chapel, 83, of Fairmount, IN died Wednesday, June 13, 2007, at Marion General Hospital in Marion, IN.
He was the son of the late C.O. Chapel and the late Arstella (Ford) Chapel and was born April 12, 1924. He graduated Summitville High School. He married his wife of 54 years, Louise Bowers, on June 9, 1946 at Fairmount, IN, she preceded in death April 17, 2000.
Mr. Chapel was retired in 1982 from Delco Remy, Anderson, Indiana where he was a machine operator.
He was a member of Fairmount Friends. He was also a member and Past Master of Fairmount Masonic Lodge #635, member and Past Worthy Patron of Fairmount Order of Eastern Star Chapter #427 and Associate Guardian of Jobs Daughters.
Bud was the first employee of Fairmount Pro Hardware under the current owners.
He served on the Fairmount Park Board. He enjoyed craft making and their time at the lake cottage and fishing. He coached Little League for years in Fairmount.
He is survived by daughter, Linda Record, Fairmount, IN; son, Larry (Jenny) Chapel, Gaston, IN; two sisters, Lucy Thompson, Marion, IN and Emma Skinner, Jonesboro, IN; son-in-law, Jack Record, Fairmount, IN; grandchildren, Laurie (Dan) Mucha, Seattle, Washington, Kelly (Eric) Elkins, Fairmount, IN, Amy (Nat) Scott, Rock Island, IL, Erin (Scott) Yeager, Crawfordsville, IN, Kyle (Brad) Reed, Holland, MI, Sara (Kyle) Martin, Alexandria, IN, Suzanne (Adam Slyford) Fisher; great grandchildren, Clayton & Katie Elkins, Sophia and Sasha Mucha, Avery Scott, Samantha and Harold Reed, Maggie Yeager, Michael Martin; special caregivers, Cindy Zirkle, Linda Starkey, Debbie Vetor & Christy McNutt.
Arrangements are being handled by Armes-Hunt Funeral Home, 415 S. Main St., Fairmount, IN, where the family will receive friends Sunday, June 17, 2007 from 4-8 p.m. Masonic and Order of Eastern Star Memorial services will be 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Funeral service will be at Armes-Hunt Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 18, 2007 with Jackie Michaelson officiating.
Interment will be at Park Cemetery in Fairmount, IN.
