Obituary, The Oklahoman, July 22, 1988
Helen C. Allison, 96, of Yukon, died Wednesday, July 20, 1988. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Rose Hill Chapel with the Reverend Tom Tickner officiating under the direction of Guardian Midtown Funeral Home. Interment will be in Rose Hill Mausoleum.

Miss Allison was born in 1892 in Great Bend, Kansas, and became a 'domestic science' teacher at Central High School in Oklahoma City in 1913. She retired in 1957 as chairman of the homemaking department, a post she had held for a number of years. She became a member of the First Presbyterian Church in 1913. At the time of her death, only two persons were longer-time members of the church.

She was active in Red Cross leadership and volunteer activities for more than seven decades. She was a charter member of the board of directors of the Oklahoma County Chapter of the American Red Cross when it was organized in 1917. Last year she was honored at the dedication of the chapter's new headquarters with the very seldom given Clara Barton Award for special leadership positions held over a long period. She had been active in Red Cross activities through two world wars and, at the time of the award ceremony last year, she was still a steady volunteer and came each Thursday with retired friends she had recruited to bring her and also to take part in the volunteer work.

Survivors include a nephew, Wesley A. Leatherock, Oklahoma City; a niece, Marianne Baker, Longmont, Colorado; a sister-in-law, Rae Allison, Lambertville, New Jersey; four great nephews, Jeff Leatherock and Cyrus Leatherock, both of Oklahoma City and Neal and Philip Baker, both of Longmont, Colorado; a great-great niece, Stephanie Cummins, Oklahoma City, and a great-great nephew, Kyle Leatherock, Oklahoma City.
