|Birth: ||May 11, 1853|
|Death: ||Jul. 3, 1927|
Dr. E.Z.F. Golden was the sixth child of Elizabeth Manderson and William Harvey Golden. It should be noted that he was originally buried in Fla. and was later moved to Ga. when his wife died. His daughter Bessie Golden noted this in a biography that she wrote about him. He became a minister at an early age and used his initials as his name.
He was married to Mattie Ross and they had seven children. The youngest child, a son, died as an infant in 1897. The other children were Louise, Bess, Dr. E.Z.F. Jr, Ross, Lafayette, and Marie. All of the children graduated from college and the girls all became teachers. E.Z.F. Jr died as a young man.
One of his Obituaries, contributed by Mack, a Findagrave contributor. He was later interred in Fort Valley, Ga.
Palatka Times-Herald Obituary dated Friday, 8 Jul 1927
"Dr. Erasmus Zeruleus Franklin Golden Sr., for years one of the leading Baptist ministers of Florida and former editor of the Florida Baptist Witness, died Sunday at Williston, following an extended illness. The interment was in the cemetery at Leesburg, the home of the Golden family.
Dr. and Mrs. Golden resided in Palatka while their daughter, Miss Marie Golden was teaching in the Palatka High School, and they had many friends here, who will learn with deepest regret of the death of the aged minister".
