Beverly “Bev” M. Johnson, age 73, of Des Arc, MO, passed away, Friday, May 31, 2013, at Piedmont, MO. Bev was born September 28, 1939 to LeRoy Finn and Elizabeth Louise McManness Finn in St. Louis, MO. Bev graced her family and community with a great commitment to serving the Lord and to the service of others. She was a faithful and active member of the Church of the Nazarene in Annapolis, MO for over 38 years. During that time, she served as pianist, secretary, Sunday School teacher, and board member.

Bev displayed her compassion by serving many communities in Iron and Wayne County as a caseworker at the state of Missouri, Division of Family Services for 27 years. For many years, Bev also wrote a column entitled the “Des Arc News” for the Wayne County Journal Banner and The Mountain Echo newspapers.

On July 7th, 1956, Bev was united in marriage to William Ronald Johnson and to this union five children were born. Bev is survived by three daughters, Denise Lynn Walker and husband, Tim, of Rockport, Texas, Cathy Diane Hileman and her companion Glenn Ehlers of Jackson, Missouri, and Lorinda Dawn Frost and husband, Tom, of Phoenix, Arizona; two sons, William LeRoy Johnson and wife Elda of Des Arc, Missouri, and Robert Sheldon Johnson of Houston, Texas; her grandchildren, Dennis Johnson, William Goodman, Mathew Goodman, Heather Hileman, Brandy Hernandez, Marissa Johnson, Brittany Johnson Collier, Tyler Johnson, Jamie Johnson and Kaytlynn Johnson, Rachel Walker Harvey, Wesley Walker, and Preston Walker; and nine great grandchildren.

Bev was preceded in death by her husband (Ron Johnson); her parents (Roy and Elizabeth Finn), one infant grandson (Daniel James “DJ” Goodman); one infant brother (LeRoy Finn Jr.) and one sister (Dorothy Mildred Archer).

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to The American Cancer Society or the Annapolis Church of the Nazarene.

Bev will be greatly missed by her family and friends. We all pray she rests in eternal peace.

Visitation was held Tuesday, June 4, 2013, at Annapolis Nazarene Church at 5:00 P.M. Funeral services followed Wednesday, June 5, 2013, at 2:00 P.M. also at the church.

Bev was my Going 5th cousin.

It was from Bev's family information that I created her family memorials. We found each other as she was reaching the end of her journey on earth as we know it today.
