Heather Guerrero
Birth: Feb. 8, 1988, USA
Death: Feb. 11, 2003
Scotts Bluff County
Nebraska, USA

Heather was very active in her school and was liked by all who knew her. She played volleyball, was a student manager for the basketball team and active in a group that performed skits with anti-drug themes for children.

Heather was remembered as a "light in the darkness" during a funeral service that drew nearly 2,000 mourners. Several family members and friends sang songs and read poems. Her aunt, Peggy Carrizales, read an essay Heather wrote last Thanksgiving, expressing appreciation for her family.
"Everything happens for a reason, whether good or bad," she wrote at the time.

Heather disappeared around 6 a.m. MST Tuesday while delivering newspapers in her neighborhood near the Scotts Bluff National Monument.

The Star-Herald has established a memorial fund for Heatherís family at Platte Valley National Bank. Contributions can be sent to: The Heather Guerrero Memorial Fund, Platte Valley National Bank, 1212 Circle Dr., Scottsbluff, NE 69361.

Public Funeral Services were held for Heather on February 17, 2003 at 10 a.m. at Northfield Assembly of God Church in Gering. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park. Private Prayer Services for the family will be held on the 17th in the evening. Flags were flown at half staff all throughout Gering and Scottsbluff.
