Howard Walter Tijou was a very lucky young boy. He accompanied his father on voyages and adventures all across the world since he could walk.
While he was still very young, he and his father got stuck in Mexico during Pancho Villa's revolution. While away in England during school, Howard became caught in the middle of WW1. His father braced through the front lines to get his son.
Howard and his father traveled home for the second time that year aboard the Lusitania. Again, they were booked in second class when the ship sank.
Howard was playing on deck with other boys at the time of the explosion. He and the boys were knocked off the deck and were drowned in the ocean. Howard's father, Walter, who had been in his stateroom, made it to deck and was saved. He later learned the fate of his son, whose body was never recovered.
