Nina B. Hitt Lurding, 85, of Jeffersonville, died Thursday, Jan. 21, 2010, at Westminster Health Care Center, Clarksville.
Born April 7, 1924, in Germantown, Ky., she had worked for Taggart Insurance and the U.S. Census Bureau in Jeffersonville.
Survivors include her sons, Terry W. Lewis and his wife, Sandy, of Jeffersonville, and Thomas L. Lewis and his wife, Rosemary, of Coatesville; stepdaughters, Carol Noble and Nancy Henderson, both of Jeffersonville; sisters, Mildred Slattery, of Ashland, Ky., Genevieve Fryman, of Germantown, Ky., Joy Mazzarella, of Cincinnati, and Marjorie Hitt, of Germantown, Ky.; grandchildren, great-grandchildren and extended family members.
She was preceded in death by husband, JB Lurding; sister, Marcelyne Altimari; brothers, Keith, Adrian and Glenford "Toby" Hitt; and parents, Katherine and Elmer Hitt; along with her Aunt Zelda and Uncle Harvey Hull, who raised her.
A private service will be held and Scott Funeral Home, Jeffersonville, is in charge of arrangements.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions in her memory on behalf of the Diabetes Research Center to the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 1527, 113 W. Maple St., Jeffersonville, or to a charity of your choice
