Helen attended schools at Greensfork, Baxter School in Richmond, Indiana, WIlliamsburg in Wayne County. She was an eighth grade graduate of WIlliamsburg school and a Graduate of Huntsville school in Randolph County. In 1930, she was employed at the Richmond B. B. Glove Factory making gloves. She also worked at the Belden Corporation inspecting electric plugs and at Perfect Circle Corporation inspecting auto rings.
Helen attended Arba Friends Church regularly beginning in 1941 and belonged to the Arba Ladies Aid and the Spartan Home Economics Club of Spartansburg. After Maurice's death in 1980, Helen remained on the family farm with her son Loren and family.
