Members of the Maurice Kraemer Sr. family are awaiting the arrival here of the body of their son, Private First Class Maurice P. Kraemer jr. 20, United States Army who was killed when an enemy mine detonated Octoer 10th, near Saigon, in Vietnam.
The Kraemers are joined in their vigil by the dead son's wife, the former Mary LaCroix also of East Jordan.
PFC. Kramer's death marks the third East Jordan service man to be killed in Vietnam since 1965.
PFC. Kraemers's parents who live at 513 North Maple Street and wife, a resident of Garfield Street were notified this past weekend of his death by Army personnel. Few details were known other then that he died from a detonated ememy mine somewhere near Saigon.
PFC. Kraemers attended East Jordan Public School, then entered the Army in October of 1968. After completing basic training at Fort Polk, Louisiana, he arrived in Vietnam in April of 1969, where he was a radio operator in company D, @nd Battalion of the 25th infantry.
On August 31st of this year he received the Bronze Star Medal for heroism in action while engaged in military operations against a hostile force.
He also held the Combat Infantryman's Badge and the Army Commendation Medal for heroism.
Maurice P. Kraemer Jr. was Born January 3rd, 1949 in Charlevoix.
On April 1, 1969 he was married to the former Mary LaCroix in East Jordan.
Immediate survivors besides his wife and parents include sisters, Mrs. Judy Raymond, Catheryne,17: Carol, 15 and Lori 3 all of East Jordan and brothers, John 19; Gerald 13; Steven 11; Timothy 7; Christopher 5; and Billy 2 also of East Jordan.
Alsosurviving are his materanal granparents; Charles Blaha and Mrs. Dewey Holser both of East Jordan
