Mr. Cournoyer, who was born in Canada February 8, 1848, was married at Grand Rapids (Wisconsin Rapids) May 31, 1876 to the former Anna Wilcott, a sister of Mrs. Lucy Cournoyer of Marshfield, wife of Mr. Cournoyer's brother, the late Dennis Cournoyer, who died August 6, 1930.
Simon Cournoyer came to Marshfield in the early 1870s, not long after the arrival of Marshfield's first white settlers, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Rivers. He worked as a farmer and lumberman, and was distinguished as one of the few who rode logs on the Wisconsin River as far as Wisconsin Dells.
The Cournoyers left this city in 1915 to make their home in Gillett and later at Laona.
