Funeral services for Mrs. Emma Kieffer, Robinson's oldest citizen at the time of her death, were held on Sunday afternoon at the First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. William Hunter and the Rev. E. M. Bailey in charge. Interment was in the Robinson cemetery.
Mrs. Kieffer, 95, died on Friday at her home. She fractured her right hip in a fall on May 13 and had failed steadily. Prior to her accident she had led a comparatively active life and by use of her radio and newspaper had kept well informed of current events. Having been a native of Crawford county and a resident here for nearly a century she had always maintained a ken interest in all things pertaining to her community and acquaintances.
Emma Elizabeth Coulter was born January 31, 1860 on a farm in the vicinity of Grassy Hollow, in Crawford County, Illinois. Her parents were Phillip and Margaret (Ploch) Coulter, who were pioneer settlers of this county, her father having come to this country from Germany when he was 14 years of age.
She was married on Oct. 3, 1887 to Dayton L. Kieffer, who passed away on Nov. 24, 1932. She leaves three children, Ella at home, Lawrence R. of Cleveland, Ohio, Chester L. of Washington, D. C., one step-son, Otis A. who made his home with her. She also leaves two daughters-in-law, nine grandchildren, one sister, Louisa Stahl of Oblong vicinity, besides several nieces and one nephew.
