When Olive was 7, her father died she and her sister Margaret were sent to Decatur, Alabama,to live with Dora King Wade/a cousin.
1893/While visiting her brother,Archie, who was ranching in Roberts County, Texas, she met William Dixon. They married October 18, 1894 at his Adobe Walls homestead on the Turkey Track Ranch. Olive was the only woman living in Hutchinson County,Tx for the 1st 3 years of her marriage.
After the death of William, Olive published 'The Life of Billy Dixon'. 1929 Olive moved to Amarillo,Tx and worked as a part-time staff writer by the Amarillo Globe-News. 1937 she was made a salaried reporter.
